Rosneath Peninsula Highland Gathering.

Solo Piping Rules:

  1. Event times are detailed on the entry form but may vary on the day due to the number of entries. All Juvenile, C and B Grade competitions will begin in the morning and all A Grade competitions will begin in the afternoon.
  2. Competitors in the chanter competition cannot enter a piping competition and competitors in the juvenile piping competitions cannot compete on the chanter.
  3. Confined local chanter is for those who are resident in the Rosneath Peninsula area.
  4. Confined local solo piping competitors must either have resided in Argyll & Bute for at least 6 months prior to the competition; been born in Argyll & Bute or play with a pipe band based in Argyll & Bute, proof of which may be requested on the day.
  5. No local competitor who has won an open competition will be allowed to enter the local competitions.
  6. All competitors must register at the Registration Tent for a number to compete.
  7. All entries must be received by the closing date and no entries will be taken on the field. However, late entries before the competition date may be accepted, at the discretion of the Piping Convener.
  8. All competitors must wear highland dress.
  9. All competitors to use the designated tuning area.
  10. Any competitor who wishes to withdraw from a competition, for whatever reason, must notify the Piping Convener in advance or before leaving the field.
  11. The order of play will be adhered to as far as possible but the Piping Convener reserves the right to alter this if, in her/his opinion, circumstances so require.
  12. Although the stewards will assist competitors on the day, it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to make themselves available at their appointed slot in any competition or they may forfeit the right to compete in that competition.
  13. Where a competitor’s competitions clash they must notify the Piping Convener who will advise the judges of alternative arrangements.
  14. All competitors under 18 years must provide their date of birth, proof of which may be requested on the day.
  15. The number of tunes to be submitted to the judges on the day for each competition are:
    Juvenile x 1; C grade x 3; B grade x 4 and A grade x 4.
  16. In all areas of dispute, prior to and after competing, the Piping Convener’s decision is final.
  17. In all areas of dispute relating to the actual competition, the Piping Judges decision is final.
  18. While every effort will be made to ensure that the competition runs as detailed above the Piping Convener reserves the right to make any changes necessitated by unforeseen circumstances.

Please note that the organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or damage, which the performer or public might sustain while attending the Rosneath Solo Piping Competition.
